Welcome to SPH PhotoBank. Every day, SPH photographers shoot hundreds of photos of people, places and events in Singapore and abroad, for use in its publications. Over the years, the company has also accumulated a vast library of historical images. PhotoBank is SPH's latest channel to make a selection of these images available for sale to the public, in print form, as keepsakes. We have also made provision for enquiries about the commercial use of the images.

PhotoBank currently offers only SPH-copyrighted images from The Straits Times, The New Paper, Business Times and Berita Harian. If a photo you saw in these publications is not here, it may not be for sale, or may have missed selection for sale. You may wish to access Newslink, which provides a view of a wider selection of pictures. In Newslink, you will be able to enquire whether the photo is available for sale.

SPH Photobank carries only a selection of older, historical photos for sale. We are unable to provide a search service in our wider archive. If you would like to personally browse to buy from SPH's wider collection of archived images at our office premises, please contact our Information Resource Centre at sphlib@sph.com.sg to make an appointment. Please note that there is a minimum $20 charge for this.

The images you see in the galleries on this site have been divided into 4 galleries: Spotlight, Happenings, Evergreen and Latest.

• Happenings will contain both published and unpublished images captured as recently as 2 months ago by our photographers at news and other events.
• Spotlight will contain our photo editors' and librarians' picks from both current events as well as our photo archives; This gallery will feature published and unpublished images from special events such as National Day, local festivals as well as national and other major anniversaries. Such photosets will also be showcased for 2 months.
• Evergreen will contain a permanent collection of images. Visitors who may have missed the 2-month window in the other galleries and cannot find an image they saw there earlier, may try here.
• Latest, which is the opening page, will bring together in one gallery the freshest images from each of the other 3 galleries, so that visitors get a quick look at what's new.

1. No Warranty for photographs and captions (Materials)

1.1 The Materials are provided "as is", "as available". No warranty of any kind, implied, express or statutory, including but not limited to the warranties of non-infringement of third party rights, title, merchantability, satisfactory quality and/or fitness for a particular purpose, is given in conjunction with the Materials.

2. Intellectual Property

2.1 Copyright

The copyright in the Materials is owned by SPH or its licensors. No part or parts hereof may be reproduced, distributed, adapted, modified, displayed (other than for non-commercial purposes) or republished in any manner or by any means or stored in an information retrieval system without the prior written consent of SPH. The Materials are solely for personal keepsake and non-commercial use only. If you require the Materials for commercial use, please click here.

3. Non-confidentiality

You agree that all information and/or particulars sent or submitted by you to SPH in relation to the purchase of the Materials is non-confidential and non-proprietary unless otherwise expressly indicated by you. In particular, SPH may disclose your information and/or particulars to facilitate the preparation and delivery or collection of the Materials. Your personal information is also subject to the Privacy Statement regarding the use of the website.

4. Exclusion of liability

SPH shall in no event be liable for any damages, loss, claim, liability, demand, proceedings, costs or expenses ('Loss'), including without limitation direct, indirect, special, or consequential damage or economic loss, arising from or in connection with:

• any use or reliance on the Materials;
• any system, server or connection failure, error, omission, interruption, delay in transmission, or computer virus resulting in any failure to deliver the Materials to you on a timely basis even if SPH or its agents or employees are advised of the possibility of such Loss.

5. Governing Law

You agree that Singapore law, including without limitation the provisions of the Singapore Evidence Act (Chapter 97) and the Electronic Transactions Act (No 25. of 1998), shall govern the sale of the Materials and you agree to submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Singapore courts.

6. Third Parties Rights

No person shall have any right pursuant to the Contracts (Right of Third Parties) Act (Cap. 53B) to enforce any of the above terms and conditions.

SPH will retain copyright over the images both in the case of sale for use as keepsake and sale for commerical use.
